Sept 22, Class one: Discuss healthy pregnancy and normal discomforts and comfort measures. How do you best prepare your body for labor and birth? How can you support your partner or loved one during pregnancy? What herbal remedies can help with normal discomforts of pregnancy? What exercise and massage therapies will help you have a comfortable pregnancy? We will be exploring Spinning Babies based techniques for pregnancy comfort and optimal fetal positioning.
Sept 29, Class two: We will be discussing local birthing options, both hospital and home birth. What is a doula and why should you get one? What are the benefits of waterbirth? What medications might you be offered during birth and what are the side effects for you and babe? How do you avoid a c-section and achieve the natural birth you desire? There will be time during this session to talk about past birth experiences.
Oct 6, Class three: Herbs and nutrition for pregnancy, birth and post partum. Herbal basics for pregnancy and birth discomforts, herbs for new babes and birthing parents. You will walk out of this class with a pregnancy tea that we make together and a sitz bath for after birth.
Oct 13, Class four: Post-partum plan and breastfeeding. Create a plan for a healing and nuturing babymoon! Talk to lactation experts about any questions and how to best prepare for breastfeeding. We will also discuss resources for breastfeeding support in the driftless region.
Join us for this four-part series for families interested in natural birth either at home or in the hospital! Each classes will start with a meditation about pregnancy and birth, and end with time to socialize with other birthing families. Classes are Sunday afternoons, 4- 5:30 pm.
If you need to bring your children along, please reach out to the instructor and we will make arrangements to have someone available to do childcare.
Classes will be taught by Meg Novak, a Certified Professional Midwife and herbalist. Meg has worked as a doula, midwife, and childbirth educator for the past 16 years, and also teaches childbirth classes to pregnant women who are incarcerated.
Classes will be casual, chock full of the latest maternity information, and an opportunity to meet and create community with like minded families. Classes can be taken as a series for $75, or as stand alone classes for $25 a piece if there are a couple that interest you in particular. Price includes birthing parent and their support person- partner, doula, family member, whoever you want to bring along! You can pay through paypal, venmo or making arrangements with the teacher.
